#Selfie: In Memory of Kellina Miller

While I did not take other pictures of this exhibition, I felt like it was very important to include in my blog. The #Selfie show not only was a showcase of Kellina's work, but it was also a celebration of life as she passed away this semester. I helped assemble the show for Kelli, and as someone that was her colleague it was very reminiscent to see a good amount of her work for the last time. Her body of work discussed her life with chronic illness through self portraits. The show included a wide variety of her prints and even some of her past drawings. The televisions in the gallery were also used to show pictures of her through her life and show some of her prints that were in virtual print exchanges. Before the doors of the gallery opened, they had a small celebration of life ceremony and the Dean gave Kelli's family her degree.

  1. It was wonderful thing to make this show for your friend, Alena.

  2. I usually have my head buried in clay this time of the semester, but I am glad that I was able to see it. Gerry let me in after it had closed and to be in there with no one but her work was really impactful, in the stillness her work breathed. The screens were off and put away for the day, but I didn't feel like I needed to see pictures in order to see *her*. Kelli put so much of herself into her work and that level of vulnerability was really inspiring.

I'm so sorry for your loss and the loss of the print-making department, you all honored her so exquisitely with that exhibition.
