Student Purchase Awards Show
| Me with my print entitled Jack, Silkscreen, 2021 |
The main reason I visited the Student Purchase awards was because I had a print in the show. This was the first year I put any work in the show, and the main reason I did it was because the experience of putting your art out into the world is highly encouraged in my printmaking class. Honestly, I was not expecting my work to be chosen to be in the show and I was quite intimidated by thinking that my work would be displayed. But seeing it hanging up on the walls was the most rewarding feeling.

The print that I included in the exhibition was a CMYK screen sprint of a still life in my house. I was most proud of how this print came out for me last semester so it felt rewarding to have it shown somewhere. I learned a lot on presentation and how to display my work. It was difficult to find the right frame and backing to fit the print, but I am happy with the end result.
Another piece that I really enjoyed at the Show as this piece that actually took first place in the show. I need to go back into the gallery to look up the name of the piece and the artist's name, but this piece was so beautiful to see in person. It was also very large and I really enjoyed seeing the uncut edges of the linen.

Congratulations, Alena! How exciting!
