| The Portable Screen Printing Station by Peter Foucault |
On Thursday the 21st, I was able to be apart of the screen printing station at this years U-Create event at the Verge. As a printmaker at Sacramento State, it was a very exciting opportunity to be able to print my art live for people and do do this activity with my friends. Each of us was told to create a design to go with the theme potluck and there were fifteen of us total that participated, so in the end each of us got one of everyone's prints doubling this as a print exchange for us. For my design, I chose to do two cups of boba because getting tea with friends is a very special way for me to spend time with them. I enjoy the intimacy of getting to know someone over a cup of tea. The Portable Print Station is where we sat up to print our designs. Peter Foucault created this station with the help of a colleague, and he takes it to different events around Northern California. He has everything included in the set up that you might need, even an exposure unit to burn the designs onto the screens. Unfortunately, I do not have a photograph of my printed piece, but I will be attaching one soon.

This event was also my first time at the Verge, so it was really fun to go and experience it. While I would have liked to walk around the event more, just being able to print for a few hours was a great experience and a lot of fun. In the room with us, was the band and a curated exhibition of one of our projects from this semester about something that is iconic to us. Each person in my class made a print about something that they think is iconic and then we collaborated with Professor Dosch's ART 111 course to get feedback. The finished prints were displayed at the event along with a QR code that could link the viewer to our statements on the piece as well as what the ART 111 students had to say about our icons.
